The Old Guard is an American fantasy superhero film premiered on July 10, 2020, on Netflix. Gina Prince-Bythewood has directed the film, while the writer is Greg Rucka. The film is an adaptation of the comic series by Greg Rucka of the same name. The comic was picked up by Skydance Media, in march 2017 for a film adaptation. Leandro Fernandez is the illustrator of the comic book. But, according to Greg Rucka, the contract held that a significant scene between the characters of Joe and Nicky must be in the adaptation from the comic series. As soon as the movie released on Netflix, it received positive reviews. The Old Guard became the most streamed content on the first weekend. Moreover, it ranked second and fourth in the oncoming weeks after.
Until July 17, The old Guard had 72 million household views in the first four weeks of release. The statistics made the film among the ten most successful Netflix original launches in the streaming networks history. Furthermore, critics praised the film for its action sequences and its narration.

The Old Guard: Plot

The plot of the old guard follows the life of a warrior, Andy, along with a group of mercenaries, who are immortal. The mercenary group with Andy has fought to save the world for decades. But their lives start to wreak havoc as they recruit to an emergency mission, their immortality is out in the world. Andy and a new member Nile take up the task to eliminate those who possess a threat to the immortals.
The Old Guard: Ending Explained
The finale of the Old Guard left viewers on the edges of their seats. In the end, we saw the immortals free from the trap of Mogul and beginning a new mission to correct the mistakes, along with Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Copley. However, the actions of the immortals have consequences.
The warrior Andy lost her ability to healing and remaining deathless. While her partner Booker was sent into exile for the next hundreds. The parting of the duo was very emotional. Since Andy is now mortal and Booker in exile for a hundred, it is likely that they shall never meet again.
Then we’re taken to six months after the incidents of the film, where another immortal, Quynh meets Booker. Quynh was a former friend of Andy, who was in an iron maiden, trapped. And then she was thrown in the sea to drown again and again until eternity.
