Access missed notifications via the Status Bar with Minotaur

[ad_1]

Notifications are an essential aspect of owning a smartphone, and the iPhone’s Notification Center interface does a fair job of merging all your missed notifications into one convenient place, some would argue that Apple could do better. iOS developer Muirey03 would be one of such people, and consequently, a newly released jailbreak tweak dubbed Minotaur was conceived.

Minotaur was designed to provide a new way of viewing and interacting with missed notifications to your iPhone. It works by letting users quickly view and manage missed notifications via a convenient lightweight interface that lives in your handset’s Status Bar.

As depicted in the screenshot examples above, the Minotaur interface is represented by a notification bell icon in the Status Bar. Upon interacting with it, you’ll instantaneously see a Priority Hub-style collection of missed notifications before your eyes, grouped by app. You can then tap on specific apps to view their missed notifications, and swipe on them to clear them from view if necessary.

It’s worth noting right off the bat that Minotaur doesn’t replace the native Notification Center interface, but rather works as its own separate extension. Changes made to missed notifications in Minotaur, such as reading or deleting said notifications, are reflected in the Notification Center interface and vice-versa.

After you install Minotaur, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure a few options to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Choose between an adaptive, dark, or light UI style
  • Choose between swiping up or down on notifications to clear them
  • Choose between red, adaptive, or ColorBadge-style badge coloring
  • Enable or disable ColorBanners coloring for individual notifications
  • Replace the Status Bar’s Location Services indicator with the Minotaur icon
  • Hide banner notifications from popping up system-wide
  • Hide Minotaur when recording your screen
  • Send a test notification to view your changes

At first glance, Minotaur seems like an exciting way to interact with missed notifications on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad. As noted by the developer in the tweak’s depiction, Minotaur supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices, whether it’s an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

Those interested in trying Minotaur can purchase the tweak for $1.99 from the Packix repository via their favorite package manager.

Do you plan to give your iPhone’s notification system a boost with the new Minotaur tweak? Let us know why or why not in the comments section below.
