Method 2: Update the audio drivers

Method 4: Change Windows Microphone Settings

1. Right click on the sound / audio icon on the taskbar and select “Recording Devices”.
2. Select your microphone and right-click on it and select Properties.
3. In properties, navigate to the Advanced tab and make sure that “Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device is not enabled” is not checked.
4. Click Apply and OK.
5. Restart your PC to apply the changes.

Sometimes reinstalling or updating your skype to the latest version seems to fix the problem.
