If you are tired of the same sensational shows, give Made in Abyss a chance. Directed by Masayuki Kojima for Studio Kinema Citrus, Made in Abyss is a fantasy anime series. The series debuted with its first season in July 2017 and ran till September that year. Overall, the anime consists of thirteen episodes to date. Furthermore, two compilation movies and a sequel film are also available to watch. The latest flick, titled ‘Dawn of The Deep Soul,’ premiered on 17 January 2020.
Upon release, Made in Abyss gained massive critical acclaim. Reviewers highly praised the series’ story and animation. Moreover, it became a hit among the audience as well. And because of this, many consider it to be the best anime of 2017. Plus, it also won Crunchyroll’s Anime of The Year Award.
The sequel movie, ‘Dawn of The Deep Soul,’ ended with a promise of return. And soon after, the makers also confirmed the renewal. However, we aren’t sure whether the new release will be a series or a film. Still, for now, rumors suggest that the latest installment would indeed be a show. Also, we don’t know when the next season will premiere. But, considering the current situation, we don’t expect it to release before 2021.
As for the cast, we assume most of the characters and their voice actors will remain the same. Hence, fans can expect Mariya Ise and Miyu Tomita to reprise their roles of Regu and Riko. And joining them will be Shiori Izawa as Nanachi, Sayaka Ohara playing as Ouzen, etc. Furthermore, the new season might introduce some new characters to the viewers. But, their identities remain unknown. Regarding the English voice-cast, it’s safe to say that there wouldn’t be many changes.
The producers of the anime have kept the plot of the new season under the shrouds. So we don’t know what awaits us in the second season. However, we expect season two to continue from where ‘Dawn of The Deep Soul’ ended. The new chapter will also see the protagonist venture deeper into the Abyss. However, we don’t think they’ll reach the bottom yet. Also, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi will learn more about the secrets of the Abyss and the creatures that lurk there.
Made in Abyss is a dark fantasy/ adventure anime. It revolves around Riko, an orphaned girl who lives in the town of Belchero. However, in this town, there is a large hole that goes deep into the earth. The people of the city refer to this mysterious hole as the Abyss. Throughout time, many people have descended and returned from the Abyss. And Riko’s mother was one of them. The story follows Riko, as she aspires to become like her mother and goes into the cave. But, she’s not alone. She finds two companions in the Abyss who accompanies her in her journey.
