The year 2020 may not be moving accordingly for the whole world. Even the world of anime and series sees significant delays and cancellations. Despite everything, one good news is that the favorite world of boxing anime is coming back for another season. Audiences may soon face with some good news regarding the return of Megalo Box anime. Now, all one can hope ardently for getting a release soon of the renewed season. 

Megalo Box is one such series, made in honor of Ashita no Joe’s manga’s fiftieth anniversary. It featured characters such as Gansaku Nanbu, Joe, Yuri, etc. in the leading role. Let’s get all the further details of the renewal season of the Megalo Box.

Renewal Status and Release Date: Megalo Box Season 2

Originally home to the network of JNN, Megalo Box found its way among the audience in April 2018. But, there was no instant renewal for another season; instead, it happened one year later. The announcement of the renewal came during the Anime NYC of 2019, held in November. A short also accompanied the announcement available in the official Twitter account of TMS Entertainment. However, the premiering time frame not came yet, even though the renewal announcement took place. Anime TV claimed back in November 2019 that either late 2020 or early 2021 is the sequel’s expecting a released date.

Netflix Release Date: Megalo Box Season 2

Megalo Box anime is available for watching on the giant streaming service; it also did not license it as Netflix exclusive. It is yet to know if the second season will find its way as the streaming service’s exclusive license or not. If it does so, then the original Japanese Network and Netflix of Japan will air the series simultaneously. After that, it will arrive sometime later in other countries. But, if the series did not make its way as the exclusive license, it will take time to arrive on Netflix and will only air after the series gets completed airing. It may even not arrive in Netflix if the streaming service decides not to premiere it. 

Characters: Megalo Box Season 2

Many characters are featuring in the Megalo Box anime. However, the leading characters of the show are Joe, Mikio Shirato, Gansaku Nanbu, Miyagi, Yūri, Tatsumi Leonard Aragaki, Yukiko Shirato, Fujimaki, and Sachio. The voice-overs cast of them is different for both Japanese and English dubbing. Japanese voice-over cast includes Yoshimasa Hosoya, Shirō Saitō, Hiroki Yasumoto, Nanako Mori, etc., among many others. English voice-over cast includes Kaiji Tang, Jason Marnocha, Lex Lang, etc. among many others. 

Plotline: Megalo Box Season 2

There is not much knowledge on the plot details of the second season until now. It still kept under wraps with development going on. The only thing that is sure about the show is that it will skip seven years from the first season’s finale events. So the series will move ahead in the timeline. Creators may also make their own story and move away from the manga providing the viewers with something new. There may also be a new love interest for Joe and his fighting career in the boxing ring.
