Desperate times call for desperate measures. The nightmare of all young men and boys have come true, where they have to see their favourite game of all times getting banned by the GovernmentGovernment. On the 2nd of September, the Indian Government announced that they are banning 118 apps which come under the radar for engaging in activities which threaten security India. And unfortunately, the game which had become a staple for all gamer boys to spend time has now banned.
PubG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds which released in 2017 became a world-famous mobile game which made everyone addicted to it. It is a battle Royale game which people can play with their friends and win in tournaments and all. But the GovernmentGovernment decided to ban Pubg, and many hearts got broken due to that. The ban created a lot of traction on Twitter and became the top trending subject in a few minutes.
As we all are aware of, desperate times call for desperate measures and right now the gamers are getting desperate to bring their favourite game back. On twitter, after PubG announced the Erangel 2.0 update, Indian fans started storming the comments section with only a simple request: PubG, please end your partnership with Tencent, which is a Chinese conglomerate and lift the ban in India.
It is due to this reason that this app was banned in India because the Tencent company is a Chinese gaming company which created the mobile version of the game. But the fans of this game are so hellbent on bringing this game back, that they cant storming the official handle of the game.
PubG got developed by a man named Brandon Greene who is from Ireland. He was the one to create the desktop version of the game in partnership with the company called Bluehole. Bluehole is a South Korean company which made the original PubG in the year 2017. But inevitable tensions arose when China was about t ban the game for its violent nature. The game had a lot of killing and gruesome combats which were influencing young minds and making them more addicted to the game.
A few speculations later, they approved an alternate game called Force of Peace, but it did not stay for long. The gamers were already addicted to PubG by then. So Tencent came into the scene later on, when they wanted to create the game for the mobile version. So they changed the format a bit and made the PubG mobile version. Tencent, therefore, hold a 10% stakeholder in the company, which makes the information available to the Chinese officials. After the recent Indian-Chian face-off, all the Chinese apps got banned in India among which the most popular ones were Tiktok, Shein and now PubG.
The Government banned the app on the 2nd of September 2020. Soon the platforms of Google and Apple will receive the news about the ban in India, and they will restrict the app for the Indian users. People who have the application on their smartphone will continue to have it, but they will not be able to play it anymore as all broadband connections will ban it from their servers.
The answer is complicated as PubG got banned based on threatening Indian security. With the tensions between India and China on the rise, it is becoming more and more evident that no breach of protection shall be permitted. Therefore it is impossible to see the old pubg app getting unbanned in India anytime soon.
The maximum we can hope for during this time is that India comes up with a new alternative for such apps. Maybe Google can take up some responsibility or Reliance can do something for the diehard Pubg players, who invested a lot of time in this game.
Here is a list of all the apps which got banned by the Government on the 2nd of September 2020.
