As a kid, most of us watched a lot of cartoons and animated series. While cartoons have made us laugh over the years, the same cannot be said about animated series. There are very few series that can really make us laugh, rather than shoving boring stuff down our throats. One of the series that has remained at the top over the years is Steven Universe. The popular franchise released its sixth installment in the series in December 2019. Today, we look at everything you need to know about the sixth season!
Release Date: Steven Universe Season 6
Steven Universe Season 6 released on December 7. The new episodes are available for streaming on Cartoon Network. This announcement came before the coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic has no caught the whole world in its grip and is showing no signs of slowing down. Production was delayed worldwide. However, the crew at Steven Universe handled these unfortunate events beautifully. The new season will in all likelihood release on time.
The first episode lasted for an hour and premiered at 8 PM ET. The show also showcased the next three episodes. The three episodes played one after the other and were titled, ‘Little Homeschool’, ‘Guidance’, ‘Rose Bud’ and ‘Volleyball’. The show wrapped up the entire series on December 28. Cast and Characters: Steven Universe Season 6
The voice characters for this iconic series will return. Most likely, the cast will remain the same as the previous seasons. Our protagonist Steven is given a voice by the talented Zack Callison. Some of his notable works include Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Justice League: War and Sofia the First, to name a few. Zack wonderfully manages to incorporate the female traits seen in Steven. Qualities like empathy, nurturing, and kindness come quickly to him. Michela Dietz and Deedee Magno play amethyst and Pearl. Michela Dietz’s character is the one that brings most of the humor in the show. Deedee, on the other hand, oozes perfection and class. Her role, Pearl, is also one of the hot-tempered characters in the show.
The Ruby Gems are portrayed beautifully by Charlyne Yi. She was one of the first voice actors finalized for the show. Moreover, Charlyne did live up to the expectations, shining as one of the best voice actors on the cast. The main actors would often spend up to four hours in the recording studio. More often than not, they would record together to maintain the continuity in the show. Each recording session would last four hours and would cover one episode, at least. The recording studio was also one of the places where numerous ideas came to light. Furthermore, the actors would discuss plot elements and the storyboard here.
Storyline: Steven Universe Series
The entire show revolves around the protagonist, Steven. While maintaining a light tone, the show is filled with jokes at every turn. Apart from the frequent gags, the show also focusses on the animation and dialogue. Using a female animation style has helped the franchise gain the fame it has today. in fact, Steven Universe is Cartoon Network’s first series created by a woman. The creator is none other than Rebecca Sugar. Along with Aivi and Surasshu, Rebecca came up with the music for Season 6.
Plot: Steven Universe Season 6
Season 6 is just like its predecessors, it follows the adventures of Steven. The first episode focussed mostly on the Gems, while the second episode showed how Steven was unhappy with the Gems. This unhappiness stemmed from the fact that the Gems decided to get work in the Beach City. The subsequent two episodes showcased Steven reuniting with his friends and helping Pink Diamond heal the scar on her face. Episodes 5 and 6 showed Steven confronted by an unknown fusion. Steven has to deal with this unexpected development while also handling his life.
Episodes 7, 8, and 9 focus on Steven’s meeting with the Crystal Gems. The eighth episode pictured a blip when the Crystal Gems decided to go rogue and destroy the entire world. The final episode in the series showed Steven taking on a new hobby, plants. The last few episodes took place at the Little Homeschool.
Trailer: Steven Universe Season 6
The official trailer for Steven Universe Season 6 has not come out yet. With the release date right around the corner, hopefully, Cartoon Network will release it soon.
